DR. ARUN GARG
Lessons Learned
“My advice is, if you’re thinking about doing it, do it. If you’re thinking about doing it, instead of spending six months, a year or two years just thinking about it, that’s the only time you’re going to regret it. Not the things before, not the things after but the time you’re thinking about it and just kind of is… I’m not sure.”
Is it a Good Team
“For me, it was observing telltale signs because if they’re excellent about each detail, if they’re excellent on how to put the blood pressure cuff, I’m assuming they’re going to be excellent on the post-op care. If they’re sloppy with the blood pressure cuff, I’m assuming they’re going to be sloppy with post-op care. There is not always a correlation but often times those who are picky or sneaky on this thing are going to be better at other things and those who are sloppy on one thing may be at other things. So I was looking for those kinds of telltale signs.”
Difference Between DDS and DMD
“Most state licensing boards allow you to use either one, irrespective of what you were actually awarded. Most people, for sentimental reasons, use the one that they’re awarded. I was awarded a DMD. I use DMD. It looks awkward to me if someone inadvertently puts DDS on there but it is considered equivalent. In fact, most licensing boards allow you to use either one interchangeably.”
PRP and Stem Cells In Dentistry
Listen to their conversation as we discuss PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) and stem cells in dentistry. Dr. Garg is telling us here how amazing the technology of PRP and stem cells is, not just in dentistry but in the overall medical industry. It is so amazing that it makes the healing process faster.

Greatest Success
I joked with her. I was saying, “We’ll take care of your teeth and find you the guy.” She found the guy. That is life-changing. That is not doing a cavity for someone. That is not pulling a tooth for someone. That is changing her life.
Fixing Poor Dentistry
Dr. Arun talks about how many cases he had to fix other people’s work. There are fixable, may be fixable and not be able to fix. Not quite a number but still at least one fix a week.
Transitioning To Private Practice
Dr. Arun transitioned from university to private practice after seeing a great opportunity. He literally was making thousands in a week, more than he was making in a year before.

Money & Fear
Talking about what he has learned about the patient’s personality which differs from the hospital setting versus the private practice setting. From his experience, the most important thing that got them into needing extensive work was usually money or fear.
What Dental Patients Should Know
What would be some of the questions Dr. Garg would recommend a patient ask in that setting? There are lots of questions that should be asked before the procedure. Listen to Dr. Garg’s set of questionnaires and points that patients should ask or should know.

Do I Need an “All-On-4 to 6” Specialist
“It’s important to find someone who has done some training beyond dental school formal training.” There is a big difference between a specialist and a general practitioner. Dr. Arun Garg made a clear point regarding the need for a specialist.
Treating The Patient Not The Mouth
We have to realize that we can’t apply our biases from the patient’s perspective. Look at it from their perspective. We’ve always got to treat them according to their particular circumstances, not their mouth but as human beings.
